Tax exemption &the WTS

do think that religious organizations like the wts and any other that exhibit cultish characteristics should be exempt under current tax law?

given that most citizens in democratic nations support these exemptions due to fact that most mainstream denominations support their local communities through charitable activities, i find it reasonable that groups who do not support anyone outside their organization should not be exempt.. any thoughts?.

WT seals it's own fate

in it's quest to be the spotless, shining beacon for all the world to see, the wt's continuing policies regarding sexual/child abuse have produced the opposite effect.

common sense would tell you that if a religious organization had a policy of immediately requesting police to investigate when a victim comes forth with an accusation, outsiders could see that this kind of behaviour is not tolerated in the least.

people would welcome that kind of transparancy.. actually, the wt sealed it's fate when it decided it could declare itself the only religious organization without blemish, because of course, it is the one true religion.

Why does the Society "go beyond what is written" re blood?

this may sound somewhat cynical, but i think the society has held to it's position on blood in order to create a never-ending supply of martyrs.

martyrs are needed for the society to hold up as shining examples of faith and devotion.

this sense of self-sacrifice helps them tow the line with regards to all of their insane rules.. wg

me thinks the recent gay-bashing by an alliance mp was not driven by an anti-gay agenda so much as it was a politically motivated move to ensure that the alliance and tory parties never merge.

Religious fanaticism is a great breeding ground for pettiness

having been raised as a dub, as i look back to those days, i can't count the number of times issues were raised by the pettiest of things.

buying a vehicle that was anything but a foor-door sedan - you know, the kind most suitable for service - could in fact start a whirl-wind of gossip - he's not putting "kingdom" interests first...they don't need another car - if they're that well off then they should be helping out a little more with our kingdom hall's expenses etc.. what are some of the most pettiest issues you have seen raised while you were a dub?.

there are many events in genesis you can actually take quite literally (when seen through the eyes of ancient peoples) if any of the ancient sumarian writings are factually correct.

fundies like jws wouldn't be able to handle that kinda truth.
